Baldwin: ‘The whole story’

“All art is a kind of confession, more or less oblique. All artists, if they are to survive, are forced, at last, to tell the whole story; to vomit the anguish up.” ― James Baldwin

I’ll admit I haven’t read as much James Baldwin as I might have, but the more I learn about him the more I want to absorb his work. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about telling whole stories. At this point I’m tired of apologizing for existing. I’m 35 years old. I’m old enough to decide to not only take no bull, but also to speak the truth.

I know all too well that unspoken truth can kill.

It’s hard to shut me up, you know. But, seriously, I will keep on speaking truth.
